Can "We Got Married" Salvage Its Bad Ratings?

With the announcement of the new couples that will be joining “We Got Married,” the attention is now on whether these couples will be able to save the show’s less-than-stellar ratings.

MBC‘s long-running Saturday virtual marriage program, which saw an average of 5% ratings, saw its ratings drop to the 3% range when the show’s stars were caught up in controversy in recent times.

Yewon, who was part of a high-profile feud with actress Lee Tae Im and was even accused of lying, became the target of criticism when she still appeared on “We Got Married” as a couple with Henry. After her appearance on the show, the ratings fell to the 3% range, while the show’s comments board were filled with comments against Yewon being on the show.

Furthermore, when rumors of Kim So Eun dating Son Ho Joon broke out, the viewers also took to the comments board to voice their concern for the “sincerity” of the Kim So Eun-Song Jae Rim couple.

Ultimately, these two couples will be leaving the show. A representative from MBC told the press that this coming broadcast on June 13 will be the last episode for the two couples.

To replace these couples, two new couples, BTOB‘s Yook Sungjae and Red Velvet‘s Joy, as well as actors Kang Ye Won and Oh Min Suk, will be joining the program.

Oh Min Suk and Kang Ye Won began their virtual married life on Jeju Island, on June 4. The two are both 35 years old. This is the first variety show for Oh Min Suk, while Kang Ye Won charmed viewers with her odd personality in “Real Men‘s” female soldier special.

Yook Sungjae and Joy, who started their virtual marriage a day earlier than the Oh Min Suk-Kang Ye Won couple, will be the show’s youngest couple ever, Yook Sungjae being 20 years old and Joy only being 18. Yook Sungjae has caught the public’s attention through his appearance on the music variety show “King of Mask Singer,” as well as for his acting in the drama “Who Are You.” Joy is slightly less known to the public, being a member of the rookie group Red Velvet.
