TVXQ Wraps Up Last Concert Before Enlistment With Promises and Smiles

Yunho and Changmin of TVXQ, who are facing at least a two-year hiatus due to impending enlistment of both of the members, wrapped up the final concert before their enlistment, making promises to see the fans again on stage.

On June 14, the superstar duo performed the encore concert of “TVXQ! SPECIAL LIVE TOUR – T1ST0RY & …!” for thousands of adoring and passionate fans at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena and a hundred of thousand others who were live viewing from across Korea and Japan.

The veteran singers gave it their all and put on a brilliant performance for the fans. During the concert, Yunho said, “As I stood on stage today, I kept feeling tears come up,” but also said, “I want the fans to remember going forward that artists like [TVXQ] existed, so I want to continue to be on stage.”

He also expressed his thanks to his bandmate Changmin, saying, “The person who I cherish and thank the most in my life is Changmin. Along the way, we fought a lot and we laughed a lot, and there were times being on stage was really hard. But at those times, Changmin gave me strength and holding hands together, we came here.”

He also continued, “I became a singer because I liked to dance more than I liked to sing, but I think I became a real artist because I started to like singing a lot. We will continue to sing in front of you.”

Changmin relayed his own thoughts and mentioned his own enlistment that he said was also coming up shortly after Yunho’s, “We will be enlisting soon. Actually, I didn’t expect a lot to change over two years. However, looking at the changes around me, I realize that that’s hubris. In two years, you [fans] will become university students, or graduate school students, or you could even be married with kids.”

He continued, “I’m sure you’ll still support TVXQ, but if there becomes a different focus in life, there might be fewer fans who support us as passionately as you do now. But we will never be able to forget the lovely fans that we can see from this stage today. So we want to come back healthy to the stage. We hope that even if there are many changes in your life, that TVXQ will continue to be your energy and vitamin.”

They held their waterworks in, though, Yunho saying, “It’s my principle that I smile as I leave, so I am not going to cry, and I can only come back because I’ll leave smiling.” He then promised, “I’ll cry happily when I come back.”

During this concert, TVXQ put on a sentimental concert filled with not only songs from their new album but also their hit songs from the past, including their debut song, “HUG.”

They also performed two new songs, Yunho’s solo “Champagne” and a new duet song, “Starlight.”
