Red Velvet’s Joy Defends ‘Husband’ Yook Sungjae Against Her Group Members

On June 19, the production team of MBC’s “We Got Married” revealed that the next episode of the program will show new on-screen couple BTOB’s Yook Sungjae and Red Velvet’s Joy spending time with their respective group when they receive their very first mission card.

During the filming of “We Got Married” earlier this month, before the two knew of one another’s identity, Sungjae and Joy were given the chance to find out more about one another through a couple app on their phones.

Due to the overexcitement of his fellow group members who took over his phone, Sungjae was unable to get a hold of the phone. Sungjae was at a loss for words when his group members still did not budge despite telling them, “I’m the one getting married here. She’s my wife.”

At the same time, the rest of the Red Velvet members also expressed more excitement than Joy herself, as they screamed upon receiving the mission. Joy waited for her virtual husband to message her first, explaining that her dad always told her that the girl [in the relationship] should wait. However, she did not receive a message even after some time had passed.

Seeing this, her group members expressed disappointment and said, “It seems like he has a timid personality.” Joy came to her husband’s defense, saying, “Don’t talk badly about my husband.”

After finally receiving a message, the Red Velvet members are said to have been unable to hide their surprise at the unexpected message.
