BTS’ Suga Reveals Details About His Emergency Surgery Experience
BTS’s Suga appeared on the June 22 broadcast of Mnet’s “Yaman TV” alongside his members. During the “Five Second Keyword” corner, the singer shared a story with the keywords Seo Jang Hoon and surgery.
Suga reveals, “While we were promoting in Japan my stomach hurt a lot. I thought it was diarrhea so I went to the bathroom, but nothing came out. The next day I had a fever so I went to the hospital and found out that my appendix burst. I didn’t get surgery in Japan and took a plane back to Korea. In Japan they didn’t confirm it was appendicitis. So I said, ‘I will return to Korea’ and got surgery in Korea.”
The MCs show their astonishment and comment, “You endured that pain and got on an airplane?” MC Seo Jang Hoon compliments, “That perseverance, that passion. Along with [your] astonishing perseverance, you also saved foreign currency. [Your] will to not spend money in Japan and get surgery in Korea.”
Then Suga shares, “My mother was a fan of the [basketball] team Seo Jang Hoon was on. Since she really liked it she always brought me along.” Hearing this Seo Jang Hoon is obviously flattered and gives him a high evaluation.
Also, while BTS reveals what their group name could have been as well as various stage names, Suga confides how he got his stage name. He informs, “When I played basketball, I was the shooting guard.” His name comes from the first syllables of the words shooting and guard.
