Berrisom Peel-Off Lip Tint Review

Many Soompiers expressed interest in Berrisom’s peel-off lip tint pack after seeing it in our “12 Strange and Unusual Korean Beauty Products” article. The lip tint pack is essentially a product you apply and peel off to result in a long-lasting stain. A peel-off lip tint sounds intriguing, potentially painful… and awesome! In order to resolve your curiosity about this innovative product, we decided to try it out for ourselves!

There are a total of eight different shades available from the brand; we were able to try the six from the My Lip Tint Pack. The directions tell you to apply a generous layer. You need enough to cover your lips, but not so much that it might drip off. The amount of product you use will determine the intensity of the color. The darker lip tint shades tend to be more intense than the lighter ones. The color of the packaging is not an exact match for the color of the actual lip tint after application.

The application was a bit difficult at first. The lip tint pack has a thick, goopy texture that sets somewhat quickly. It’s important to apply it evenly within a short amount of time. If you try to add more after a layer has dried a bit, it might make the first layer peel. Despite the initial difficulties, I found that it was easier to apply with every subsequent try. There’s definitely an easy learning curve with this product. I found it easiest to apply directly from the tube. The small tip makes it easy to spread the product around the contours of your lips. Using a q-tip or lip brush might actually end up being messier. Also, even if the edges are not perfect, you can simply brush away the tiny specks after they dry and your lips will still look beautifully tinted.

After waiting for 10-15 minutes for the lip tint to dry completely, carefully peel off the lip tint pack from one edge to the other. I was worried about potential pain, but peeling it off was painless and oddly satisfying. Then voila! You’re left with a gorgeous long-lasting stain. This was definitely the longest lasting lip tint I have ever tried. They are not kidding when they advertise the product as a lip tattoo. I experienced very little transferring of the lip product. Even after eating and drinking, the lip tint doesn’t come off easily unless you rub it off vigorously or remove it with a make-up remover. After peeling off the product, your lips might feel a little dry. However, the product is helpful for gentle exfoliation and is more moisturizing than your average lip tint. Of course they don’t feel glossy and super-moisturized as though I have lip gloss on, but they feel comfortable like there’s nothing on my lips. That is the lip tint pack’s greatest strength: weightless long-lasting color.

• No feathering/bleeding (lip product migrating into creases in lips)

• Difficult to apply before getting accustomed to it

• Have to wait for the product to dry completely

• Doesn’t always wear off evenly

• Tastes sour (if not completely dry)

• Need to use a good amount of the product

Be prepared to struggle with the product the first time around. This is quite a revolutionary product, so it takes a little bit of time to get used to it. Don’t despair if they don’t look exactly how you want it at first. You will get accustomed to it in no time. Also, this product is perfect for a gradient lip. Simply apply less product around the edges of your lips while applying a bit more on the center of your lips. Be sure to wait for the lip tint to dry completely before peeling! The result is a natural gradient lip that will last for hours. It’s especially beneficial to try a gradient lip with this product because lip products tend to fade from the inside of your lips first due to eating and drinking. With a gradient lip, the fading will look more natural and less splotchy. Avoid using this product when your lips are dry and peeling, it might exacerbate the dryness of your lips. I also recommend applying a lip balm or lip gloss after peeling the lip tint off for extra moisture and shine.

Lovely Peach was the most natural shade that we tried. It’s definitely less pigmented than the other shades of the bunch. As for the sexiest color, Virgin Red is a gorgeous bright red that is hard not to notice. We loved the shades Vivid Scarlet and Pure Pink as well. We found Bubble Pink and Sexy Red to be a bit similar to each other, with Sexy Red being slightly darker and more pigmented. If you’re torn between shades, get the whole My Lip Tint Pack Set for a beautiful range of colors appropriate for any occasion and season.
