JYP Entertainment Apologizes for Twice Member Lineup Controversy

JYP Entertainment has made another statement and apology regarding the controversy surrounding the finale of “Sixteen” and previously eliminated trainee Momo being added to the final Twice lineup.

“We apologize for failing to clearly communicate the selection process, and we’d like to explain it in detail once again,” said JYP on July 8.

“The condition to be chosen as a final member was the votes made by the audience and viewers. However, leading up to the final episode, we thought that the seven members selected officially may leave something to be desired, so in addition to the seven, we decided to add one member solely chosen by the viewers (Tzuyu) and one member solely chosen by Park Jin Young (Momo).”

JYP continued, saying that they humbly accept the criticism for not properly relaying the seven plus two structure for the final team, as well as various other issues viewers had with the show, including its harsh nature.

“In attempting a new format to bring viewers closer to the show, and trying to fulfill both the goals of the broadcasting station and our company, there were definite shortcomings. We ask for your understanding, and in the future, we will do our best to create more satisfactory results.”
