Lee Byung Hun Officially Apologizes for Blackmailing Scandal for First Time

Lee Byung Hun, who was involved in a blackmail scandal last year, apologized for the first time in an official capacity.

On July 24, the actor attended the press conference for the movie “Memories of the Sword.” Before the other actors went on stage, he began, “Even as I was filming in America, I thought every day about what I should say.”

He said, “The reason why I could live as actor Lee Byung Hun is because of your attention. While being repentant after giving you such huge disappointment, I realize how precious it is now.”

He then said, “I know that the disappointment can’t be mended with any number of apologies or time. I will always have a repentant mind and I will not forget and try my best to make up for the hurt and disappointment I gave to many people.”

“I extend my apologies to the staff and associates who worked with me on the movie. I know that dealing with any criticism is my responsibility alone,” he added. “I just hope that their hard work isn’t overshadowed because of me.”

Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun was thrust into spotlight when it was revealed that GLAM‘s Dahee and model Lee Ji Yeon threatened to release a video of questionable content if he did not pay them 5 billion KRW (~$5 million USD). In the end, the two women were put on probation. However, Lee Byung Hun was criticized for his unethical actions towards his wife, Lee Min Jung.
