Girls’ Generation Claims Top Spot on Billboard’s World Albums Chart
Girls’ Generation received first place on Billboard’s World Album Chart with their latest album “Lion Heart” this week.
Most notably, Billboard stated that Girls’ Generation is the sixth K-Pop act to receive first place at least twice on the Billboard World Album Chart. Previously, the group placed first with their 2013 hit “I Got a Boy.” Interestingly, they also mentioned that four out of six multiple first place K-Pop acts are from SM Entertainment. These other groups from SM Entertainment are TaeTiSeo, SHINee, and EXO. Besides these four groups of the same agency, G-Dragon and B.A.P have placed first more than once.
Their success expands beyond Billboard, as the girl group’s double title tracks “Lion Heart” and “You Think” are both first and second place amongst YouTube’s K-Pop Music Video Chart Top 20 (August 17-23). Likewise, they achieved the same results on China’s YinYueTai V Chart (August 17-23).
The popular girl group recently won their first trophy for “Lion Heart” on SBS MTV’s “The Show.” We can assume that more first place trophies will be heading their way in the days to come.
Also, VIXX LR placed second on the same Billboard World Album Chart.
