Jo Young Nam Has Interesting Interpretation of MAMAMOO's Group Name on "Immortal Song"

Jo Young Nam made an interesting guess about the meaning of MAMAMOO‘s group name on “Immortal Song.”

On the August 29 broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s “Immortal Song,” Jo Young Nam appeared as a guest along with Yoon Hyung Joo.

During the show, Jo Young Nam watches the talented girl group’s performance and then comments, “What does ‘MAMAMOO’ mean? Does it mean that you have no moms?”

He is using wordplay, since ‘moo’ sounds the same as a word in Korean that means ‘without’.

In reply, MAMAMOO explains, “We all have moms. ‘MAMAMOO’ is like something a babbling baby says. It means that we want to approach things naturally and instinctively.”

While the comment produced some laughter on the show, others are criticizing him for being insensitive. What do you think?
