Rapper Swings Announces He Was Discharged Early From the Army for Mental Health Reasons

Rapper Swings has posted on his Facebook to let fans know that he has been discharged from the military due to mental health issues.

On September 11, Swings posted on his Facebook that on September 4, after a review of his fitness for duty as an active soldier, he was discharged from the army with eleven months left in his mandatory service.

He writes, “I’ve been receiving treatment since I was young for various mental illnesses such as obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and bipolar disorder.”

“All of those mental health issues become worse when I’m under stress,” he explains. “I was taking medicine in the training center, and I was going through mood swings. I’d spiral downwards and get very depressed, then go through a period of a high where I felt elated, and then start crying again.”

Swings continues, “As things got worse, my dosage of medication increased, and for a few months I couldn’t do anything and basically just slept. Being discharged would be a blow to my pride so I suffered through it, but in the end, following the recommendations of my officers, I applied to be considered as unfit for duty.”

“I will focus solely on my treatment for the remaining period of my military service, and not engage in any work for profit,” he writes. “Thank you. See you next year.”
