Yook Sungjae Drops out of "King of Mask Singer" to Ensure Fairness

Yook Sungjae sacrificed himself to keep the game fair and square in a live special of “King of Mask Singer.”

MBC’s “Special Live: Your Choice! King of Mask Singer” was held on September 11 as a part of the 2015 DMC Festival. Unlike the usual competitions, the masked singer was picked by the crowd and live voting via texting.

During the first round, actress Kim Ye Won, BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, Na Yoon Kwon, and Bae Da Hae are eliminated, and their faces are revealed. However, due to an accident in counting the votes, Yook Sungjae’s results were actually reversed with his opponent’s results. It turns out that Yook Sungjae won against Jang Hye Jin and is qualified to move on to the second round.

Yook Sungjae reappears on stage for the second round fully masked. However, after his performance, he says, “I’m sorry to say that the voting won’t be fair since my face has already been revealed. Though I regret having to leave like this, I’m honored that so many people got to listen to me. I’ll be dropping out of the second round.”
