Jang Geun Suk's Fan Club Donates to Give Gift of Sound to Deaf Child

A supporting organization for the hearing impaired, Snails of Love, revealed on September 17 that actor Jang Geun Suk‘s fan club CriJ donated to fund a cochlear implant for a young child.

The support was possible as part of the donation program that CriJ held in August for Jang Geun Suk’s birthday.

On August 27, CriJ heard about an underprivileged young child with a hearing impairment, and donated 6 million won (approximately $5100) to Snails of Love. With this, Snails of Love could fund a cochlear implant for the child as well as speech therapy for the child for the next three years.

A fanclub associate said, “It was sad to us that every year, about 1600 infants are born with hearing impairment and have to live lives that are secluded from the rest of the world.” They relayed, “We wanted to be of help in finding sound for children who can’t hear.”

A Snails of Love associate said, “It is the biggest happiness for us to be able to gift the world’s beautiful sounds through cochlear implant surgeries.” They added, “In the future, we hope that more cochlear implants can be funded with the attention and help from CriJ and others.”

The CriJ fan club has done other good things around the community, volunteering for the fourth year running at a child care institution and donating every year for Jang Geun Suk’s birthday. They also volunteered actively with the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

Meanwhile, Snails of Love funds cochlear implants to the hearing impaired who are financially underprivileged, and also works on programs to dispel prejudice against the hearing impaired in society.
