Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2015 – September Week 3

For the third straight week, Girls’ Generation’s “Lion Heart” is on top of our chart with a very high score. Just coming off a perfect score last week, it only dropped seven points this week. Ironically, an SM Entertainment labelmate of Girls’ Generation prevent them from getting the perfect score this week. We’ll have more on that later. “Lion Heart” has become perhaps one of Girls’ Generation’s biggest hit songs. It won another three music shows last week: Inkigayo, Music Bank, and M!Countdown. It is definitely a “Song Of The Year” candidate for 2015. Congratulations again to Girls’ Generation.

Hyuna’s “Roll Deep” held on to the No. 2 spot this week but it is not closing its gap to “Lion Heart.” Still, it is Hyuna’s biggest solo hit.

Moving up another two spots is rookie female group GFRIEND’s “Me Gustas Tu,” becoming their first top three hit. This song was released nearly two months ago, but only recently gained a lot more popularity. This song’s sudden rise was due to a performance fancam in which a wet stage caused the members slip and fall multiple times. Despite the terrible condition, they managed to finished the song. The video went viral and their courage caught a lot of fans’ attention. As a result, “Me Gustas Tu” is moving up on the chart and reaches higher positions each week.

There is only one new song in the top 10 this week. Debuting at No. 10 is Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb.” It is the title track of Red Velvet’s first full length album “The Red.” It is an additive dance song with brass drum and groovy beat. The lyrics are about a woman who feels dumb in front of the guy she likes. “Dumb Dumb” tops the GAON and internet scoring of our chart this week to prevent their senior labelmate Girls’ Generation for another perfect score. “Dumb Dumb” has a good chance to become our next No. 1 song.
