Teddy and Kush to Form Independent Label Under YG Entertainment
Producer Teddy will be forming an independent label under YG Entertainment with producer Kush.
One YG executive told Osen that YG will be helping Teddy form an independent label under the entertainment company. CEO Yang Hyun Suk himself will be helping Teddy establish his label.
Teddy’s label will be similar to Tablo‘s HIGHGRND, which was founded earlier this year. Tablo has already recruited popular indie band Hyukoh, as well as talented hip hop producer Code Kunst. He is also producing Lee Hi‘s next album under the sub-label.
One associate from YG told the media, “[The new label’s] music will be different from YG’s usual sound, as [Teddy and Kush] will probably seek out a different type of artists. Yang Hyun Suk is always telling his friends that Teddy will become a greater producer than he ever was.”
Teddy, originally a member of YG’s hip hop group 1TYM, has produced various hits for YG artists. Kush, who debuted as Stony Skunk in 2003 with Skull, became a YG producer in 2010. He left YG in 2012, but continued to collaborate with the company’s artists.
