EXID's Solji Reveals Her Hard Dieting Days as a Trainee on

EXID’s Solji shared her stories about her difficult dieting when she was a trainee.

On the episode of tvN’s “Wednesday Gourmet” aired on September 23, the panel talks about baekban (a meal that consists of white rice, soup, and side dishes) and Koreans’ culture of white rice. During the show, they cover topics such as the origin of the name baekban, good rice conditions, and the differences between a typical Korean dinner and baekban.

While talking about meals, Solji confesses that she is obsessed with eating, which makes dieting difficult. When she was a trainee on a diet, she had to hide in a bathroom stall to eat a rice cakes in secret.

“I’d be told to not eat anything but leafy vegetables in order to lose weight,” she says. “Food fuels me to sing, so I was very stressed out.”

Now that she has more flexibility with her diet, Solji reveals the food she truly enjoys.

“I eat spicy food, such as chicken feet or hot pig feet, as a late night snack in order to relieve stress,” she continues to say.

Shin Dong Yeop makes fun of Solji’s appetite, pointing out that those dishes are more like sides to an alcoholic beverage rather than just a snack. Solji, though taken off guard, admits that he is right.

Meanwhile, three restaurants known for their cheap and tasty baekban are introduced in the episode.

“Even BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has visited,” Jeon Hyun Moon says while introducing one of the places. “Unfortunately, the owner never recognized me when I went.”
