EXO‘s Baekhyun shares a few words about closet fans and EXO-L on the pilot episode of MBC’s “The Gifted.”
When discussing the topic of obsessed fans who are not completely understood by the society, MC Baekhyun says, “Some of our fans struggle to come out of the closet and confess ‘I like EXO,'” and explains, “This kind of behavior is referred to as ‘cosplaying an ordinary person.'”
He goes on to say, “For office workers, I guess it can be awkward to hang EXO posters above your desk,” suggesting that expressions of fandom might not be socially accepted in professional settings.
Soon after this, the viewers are introduced to members of the audience who are exactly the type of obsessed fans as discussed earlier to hear their side of the story.
Meanwhile, “The Gifted” seeks out passionate individuals with deep knowledge in diverse topics to better understand our obsession-seeking society. While the show was initially planned as a Chuseok special, the producers have not ruled out the option of turning it into a permanent show.
