Actor Ha Jung Woo Buys His Father a Car After Success of “Assassination”

On the September 29 broadcast of TV Chosun’s talk show “Pumpkin Seed,” it was revealed that Ha Jung Woo gifted a car to his father, actor Kim Yong Gun, after the success of the movie “Assassination.”

Film critic Kim Tae Hoon commented, “Ha Jung Woo didn’t want people to say that his success came from his father’s background. That’s why he began his career using a pseudonym.”

Ha Jung Woo had to give up his dream of studying abroad when his mother’s business folded. Since then he has always had a soft spot for his father. With his success as an actor, one of the first things he did was buy a car for his father.

Actress Kim Hyung Ja also commented, “Ha Jung Woo, with his brilliant acting skills, starred in a movie that mobilized 10 million viewers. Now he tells everyone that Kim Yong Gun is his father. He even bought him an expensive car.”

She went on to say, “Kim Yong Gun is so proud of his son. He goes around telling everyone that his son bought him a car. They even made a commercial together, thanks to Ha Jung Woo’s popularity. Nowadays, Kim Yong Gun is known as ‘Ha Jung Woo’s dad.’”

With the success of the movie “Assassination” under his belt, Ha Jung Woo has two more movie releases, “Tunnel” and “Agasshi,” coming up before the year’s end.
