Park Jin Young Shares His Thoughts on Digital Sajaegi

Singer and producer of JYP Entertainment, Park Jin Young, shared his thoughts on digital sajaegi.

On the September 30 broadcast of JTBC‘s “Newsroom,” Park Jin Young appeared and spoke about the issues in the music industry including that of digital sajaegi — the act of manipulating the digital music charts.

During the broadcast, Son Suk Hee asks, “Do you think digital sajaegi exists?” Park Jin Young replies, “I do think it exists.”

He says, “Personally, people around me contacted me not too long ago and said, ‘why doesn’t your company do it? You’re being a fool. If other companies do it and you don’t, isn’t that bad for you?’ and there have been people who confessed to me that they do it. I guess they were frustrated by me.”

He then continued, “So I explained to them my philosophy about my company, then one of my company employees had a meeting with them. With a recording of the contents from that meeting, we took legal action.” He explained, “We explained the situation to entertainment companies around us, and the four of us took legal action together. The four companies are SM, YG, Star Empire, and [JYP].”
