Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2015 – October Week 1

Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb” repeats as No. 1 this week. This song won on “M!Countdown” again last week and was ranked among the top songs on all our chart sources. Even though the gap is a lot closer between “Dumb Dumb” and its challengers, it was able to hold on to the top spot. Congratulations again to Red Velvet.

There are four new songs in the top 10 this week, including the No. 2 and 3 songs. Moving up nine spots to No. 2 is YG Entertainment’s prized rookie male group iKON, scoring their first top 10 hit with their debut song “My Type.” This song is the warm up single for iKON, ahead of their long awaited debut in October. It is a sensuous hip-hop song about an innocent young man who likes everything about a girl. Despite no promotions, “My Type” won “Inkigayo” and “Music Core” last week. iKON just released their debut half album. “Welcome Back”. and will start promotion this week. They are a lock to win all the rookies award this year.

Moving up 11 spots to No. 3 is CNBlue’s latest hit “Cinderella.” It is the title track of CNBlue’s second full length album, “2gether.” Lead singer Jung Yong Hwa wrote this song about a man who wants to find his ex back. “Cinderella” won on “Music Bank” and “Show Champion” last week, picking up most of their points from music shows.

Up 10 spots to No. 6 is Fly To The Sky’s new song “It Happens To Be That Way.” This song is one of the two title tracks from Fly To The Sky’s first mini-album, “Love & Hate.” It is a vintage Fly To The Sky ballad with great harmony that reminds us of many of their greatest hits. The song is about the heartbreak of a man who broke up with his girlfriend. The vocal, harmony, and arrangement of this song is outstanding. It is one of the best ballad songs this year.

Also moves up 10 spot is Lucky J’s Jessi as her latest hip-hop single, “Ssenunni,” is at No. 7 this week. Jessi continues her amazing rise as one of Korea’s top female rapper. This song shows the cute and feminine side of Jessi. The music itself also sounds intense yet soft at the same time.
