
Taeyeon Tops iTunes Charts in 12 Countries, Tops All 8 Major Korean Music Charts With "I"
Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon achieved the incredible feat of topping the iTunes Charts in 12 countries as well as topping all eight major Korean charts with her first solo album, “I.”
Her album “I” was released on October 7. As of 7 a.m. on October 7 KST, Taeyeon’s title song “I” was at the top of MelOn, Genie, Mnet, Olleh Music, Soribada, Naver Music, Bugs, and Monkey3 charts. Not only that, but the other songs on her album were also near the top.
The reception has been huge overseas as well. As of 8 a.m. on October 7, KST she had topped the iTunes album charts in Brunei, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Panama, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Not only that, but she made the top 10 in 25 in total, including second in Sweden; third in Mexico; fourth in Japan; fifth in Finland, New Zealand, and Portugal; and 10th in the United States.
The title song “I” is the first song that Taeyeon has written the lyrics for since her debut. She sends an honest message and her promises for the future that had been hidden behind the spotlight. She collaborated with hip hop musician Verbal Jint.
