Ailee Jokes About Her Strategy for Performing With an Injury on "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook"

Songstress Ailee performed on October 9’s episode of “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” and also got the chance to talk about how she’s been performing with an injury. Ailee broke her toe last month while filming the music video for her new song, and has since been performing on music shows while sitting down and wearing a cast.

After she performs her first song, Yoo Hee Yeol asks her to tell everyone about what she just sang. Ailee says, “It’s Kim Gun Mo‘s ‘Beautiful Goodbye.’ I was singing it for my toe, for my once healthy toe. Just kidding!”

She is then asked if she feels disappointed that she isn’t able to dance this time around. “It’s true, I practiced so hard on my choreography,” she replies. “And because I got hurt in the middle of video filming, I couldn’t show everyone the choreography fully so it’s really disappointing, and I’m upset about it. Still, the performance is important, but the singing is important too, right?” She then cracks Yoo Hee Yeol up when she jokes, “I’m not singing with my toe, so…”

She goes on to explain that since she can’t dance on stage, her performances are centered on her expressions now. Not only that, but she shows Yoo Hee Yeol how she’d adapt some of her hit songs to a seated performance by using a variety of different expressions.

Yoo Hee Yeol offers to help her show how she’d do her song “Don’t Touch Me.” He reaches out to touch her shoulder, and she turns and glares at him while singing, “Don’t touch me!”

They both laugh and Yoo Hee Yeol says, “You can do everything with just your face! From the next album on, don’t bother with choreography and just use your expressions!”

Ailee then wows the audience with a powerful performance of her song “Mind Your Own Business” off her first full album “Vivid.”
