Lee Guk Joo Recalls When She Was Deeply Hurt Due to Fat-Shaming

Comedienne Lee Guk Joo recalled a time when she was hurt due to fat-shaming.

On the October 16 episode of “I Live Alone,” Lee Guk Joo meets up with her friends and has a good time together.

As they are talking, someone asks her if there was anyone that was really nice towards her. Conversely, Lee Guk Joo starts talking about someone who was mean and fat-shamed her.

“It was when we were having dinner together after a gag show. I was the youngest so I had to clean up after everyone and came late to the restaurant. It was getting late and the meat was running out so I thought I’d just eat rice. I said, ‘Please give me one serving of rice.’ Then a colleague next to me said, ‘Are you not planning to live like a woman?'” Lee Guk Joo recollects.

She continues, “I started thinking, ‘Is it worth it to keep doing what I do and get embarrassed in front of everyone hearing comments like this?’ I did not eat one bite that night. I came home and drank three bottles of soju.”
