“Descendants of the Sun” Sets Broadcasting Date

Descendants of the Sun” starring Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki is slated to air in February 2016 as the follow-up drama to the current Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015.”

“Descendants of the Sun” is a 100 percent pre-production drama and is under the pressure of having to complete filming by the end of the year due to Chinese broadcasting regulatory policies. The “Descendants of the Sun” is determined to finish post-production work after the completion of filming to get the drama ready to air by first week of February. Since MBC and SBS still have not announced their lineup for the same time slot against “Descendants of the Sun,” fierce competition is anticipated.

Song Hye Kyo, Song Joong Ki and other key actors and crew members headed for Greece at the end of last month. Greece is the backdrop of the drama, the location where the troops are sent overseas. This is where the story begins as the two main characters Song Hye Kyo (Kang Mo Yeon) and Song Joong Ki (Yoo Shi Jin) meet fatefully.

“Descendants of the Sun” is a story of a young soldier and doctor pursuing love and dreams as strangers in a distant land. It’s a melodrama portraying the very essence of life. Song Joong Ki portrays Yoo Shi Jin, captain of the elite special forces. Song Hye Kyo portrays an attractive doctor Kang Mo Yeon.

Legendary writer Kim Eun Sook who was behind the success of “Lovers in Paris,” “Secret Garden,” and “Heirs” and director Lee Ung Bok who directed “Secret,” “School 2013,” and “Dream High” team up for “Descendants of the Sun” drawing much attention of highly anticipating fans.
