First Two Winners Of “Unpretty Rapstar 2” Semifinals Decided
On November 6, the fierce ladies of “Unpretty Rapstar 2” finally went head-to-head in the semifinal round.
The ninth episode of the Mnet rap survival program featured several guest performers. KittyB went up against 4Minute’s Jiyoon, who performed the rap “Don’t Change” with labelmate Jung Ilhoon (BTOB). KittyB had no featuring artists and filled the stage with just her words, performing a rap called “Ronda Rousey Flow (RRF)” about her life. KittyB won the round with 180 votes while Jiyoon got 76.
Sistar’s Hyorin, on the other hand, was up against Heize. Both of them had brought guest performers to add a little flair to their stage. Heize rapped to “Don’t Make Money,” with lyrics dedicated to her family, saying that she will make money on their behalf so they don’t have to work so hard. Her guest performer was EXO’s Chanyeol, whose featuring rap he wrote himself. Heize said, “I felt confident because Chanyeol performed well and wrote good lyrics.”
Meanwhile, Hyorin had brought along Basick of “Show Me the Money 4” fame, combining her vocals and rap with his emotional rapping. While an excellent performance, many people felt that Hyorin had sung more than expected. Wonder Girls’ Yubin said, “If she had rapped a little more, it would have been better. I don’t know what the results will be.” In the end, Hyorin beat Heize by nine votes.
The next episode will wrap up the semifinal round, with Truedy and her featuring artist Tiffany (Girls’ Generation) going against FIESTAR’s Yezi and her featuring artist Hanhae. The episode preview showed people surprised by Truedy and Tiffany’s performance, while a sneak peek of Yezi’s rehearsal hinted at something sexier than usual. The semifinals will also conclude with a head-to-head between Sua and Yubin.
“Unpretty Rapstar 2” airs every Friday at 11 p.m. KST.
