"Music Core" to Abolish Ranking System and Incorporate More Diverse Music
MBC’s “Music Core” is completely abolishing their current ranking system beginning next week on November 21.
“The truth is that the present system of revealing live rankings based on various music charts has lost meaning and importance to broadcasters,” the MBC variety department said. “Instead of the ranking system, we intend to show more diverse genres of music and continue to work hard to be a representative music program of Korea.”
The ranking system was previously eliminated in 2006 and for seven years the show did not give out awards like other music programs. The ranking system returned in 2013.
“Music Core” airs every Saturday at 3:50 p.m KST and is currently hosted by SHINee‘s Minho, VIXX‘s N, and Red Velvet‘s Yeri.
