EXO's Baekhyun Will Make His Drama Debut

According to a television station representative, EXO’s Baekhyun will make his drama debut in “Moon Lovers,” an upcoming remake of a Chinese drama. Baekhyun will play one of the emperor’s heirs. Actors Lee Joon Gi and Kang Ha Neul have already confirmed to star in the drama as well.

This is Baekhyun’s first official television drama since making his debut as a member of EXO in 2012. He appeared in the web drama “EXO Next Door” earlier this year where he played a top celebrity. EXO members Suho (“Glory Day”), Chanyeol (“Salut d’Amour”), D.O (“Cart,” “I Remember You,” “It’s Okay, It’s Love”), and now Baekhyun are actively making their mark as actors.

“Moon Lovers” is a story of a woman named Jang Hyo who suddenly travels back to the Qing Dynasty. The drama is based on the popular Chinese drama “Scarlet Heart,” which aired in 2011. Since the original drama is set in China, the remake will make adjustments to change the setting to Korea.

All the main characters have been cast, and the drama is set to begin filming as soon as the rest of the cast selections are complete. “Moon Lovers” is produced by director Kim Gyu Tae of “That Winter, The Wind Blows” and “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” and is slated to air early next year.
