Yang Hyun Suk Talks About CL's Single "Hello Bitches" and Her Upcoming U.S. Debut

After the recent release of 2NE1 member CL‘s single “Hello Bitches,” YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk has shared his impressions of the song and revealed a bit about the strategy for her upcoming solo debut in an interview with news outlet Osen.

“Hello Bitches” was released for free listening on SoundCloud on November 21, and a dance performance video for the track was also uploaded online.

In his interview with Osen, Yang Hyun Suk says that he was surprised when watching the dance performance video for the song. “It’s an admirable and excellent piece of work that was created through a combination of CL’s unique charisma, as is clear in the title, and the detailed choreography of the famous choreographer Parris Goebel and her team,” he comments. He goes on to say, “It’s a very satisfying result.”

Yang Hyun Suk is then asked why he decided to release the dance performance video and distribute “Hello Bitches” for free online. “CL is planning to release her English solo album in the beginning of next year with her eyes set on the global market,” he replies. “The album will be released through Scooter Braun, the producer who works with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. Since she’s been preparing for so long, the album is 90 percent completed, and the music video for the title track has been filmed. The fact that CL is 2NE1’s leader and is proficient in four languages could be a bit of an advantage to her breaking into the global market, but actually CL is a total rookie in America.”

Yang Hyun Suk continues, “[Because she is not well-known in America], we decided to do some promotions before the album came out.” He says, “From all the tracks on her album that we hadn’t planned on promoting, we chose to make a dance performance video for ‘Hello Bitches’ as a pre-release promotion. The reception has been better than expected so I’m pleased.”

He also states, “Thankfully the timing is right and so it seems CL will be appearing at MAMA this year to perform ‘Hello Bitches’ on stage for the first time. It’s expected that Parris Goebel’s choreography team will be joining her for the performance.”

As the interview wraps up, Yang Hyun Suk adds, “Please look forward to CL’s solo album release next spring.”
