International Fans Boycott End-of-the-Year Award Shows

International fans have created a petition to boycott end-of-the-year shows such as the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Award Show (MAMA), the Golden Disk Awards, and the Seoul Music Awards.

Fans have accused panelists of skewed nominations within categories such as “Best Male Dance Group,” noting that past and present nominations favor more popular groups and artists, such as G-Dragon.

The petition hopes to encourage panelists to nominate a more diverse group of artists. They also hope to see a more diverse group of artists performing at the award shows.

Through the petition, fans hope to achieve the elimination of fan voting, and want to bring in a more qualified panel of judges to vote in the shows.

The petition has currently garnered close to 1,500 signatures.
