Jessica Candidly Talks About SM Days and Solo Career

Former Girls’ Generation member Jessica has opened up about her former entertainment career and current trajectory in a new interview for fashion magazine L’Officiel Singapore.

On her days at SM Entertainment, she says, “I started training when I was 12. It was certainly difficult at times as a young girl, committing to the training. Honestly, when I started, I saw it as a new after-school activity. I had no idea it would turn into what it is today.”

She added that she thinks she has remained true to herself since then, though she has also matured a lot. “When you’re working for an employer, there are good and bad days,” she says about her departure from SM. “The difference for me today is that although I have that luxury to take time off whenever I want, there’s more pressure and stress because of my additional responsibilities.”

Since her departure, Jessica has launched her own clothing and accessories label Blanc & Eclare, currently available at more than 50 retailers around the world. She is currently working on an upcoming beauty line and is coy about launching a solo singing debut.

“My team and I are working on various aspects of my career,” she says. “Announcements are certainly forthcoming. I only want to show my fans the best of my work . . . when the timing is right.”
