Korean-American Actress Amy Given Deportation Order to Guam

Korean-American entertainer Amy, who was convicted of abusing the prescription drug Zolpidem, recently received the order to depart for Guam by December 30.

On December 22, a news outlet reported that the immigration office had ordered Amy to go to Guam by the end of the year. The entertainer had planned to stay in China following her deportation from South Korea rather than return to the United States, but according to the Immigration Control Law she will be deported to Guam instead because of her American nationality (Guam is a territory of the United States).

The Immigration Office said, “Plans to move to another country following deportation should be organized according to the laws of the country in question.”

Amy had been active in the Korean entertainment industry despite her U.S citizenship but in 2012 she was convicted of abusing the drug Propofol and was given a prison sentence of 8 months and a probationary period of two years.

She had previously been permitted to stay twice as long as she complied under oath but after being charged with using Zolpidem again, she was given the deportation order last April. She had lodged an appeal against the Seoul Immigration Office but lost.
