Zico Talks About the Difference Between His Music and Block B's Music

Singer Zico appeared on January 1 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” and spoke about the difference between his solo activities versus when he is a member of Block B.

Zico commented, “Block B is a hip-hop group. The goal is to create music that will communicate well with the audience. Music people can identify with. However, I don’t worry about that too much when I’m singing on my own. I don’t pay too much attention to the score keeping either. I sing about my own story even though people may not be curious about it.”

He added, “I knew my single from last year would be classified inappropriate for youth, but I still used slang in the lyrics. I put my own story into the music even though people weren’t too curious to know about it.”

MC Yoo Hee Yeol probed Zico, “Don’t you care about the music chart ranking?” Zico replied, “I try not to worry about it until the moment it’s announced.”

On this episode, Zico & Babylon, Urban Zakapa, Soo Mi Gol (Kim Soo Mi, Park Myung Soo, Yoo Jae Hwan, Hong Jin Young), Byul, and Sweet Sorrow appeared as guests.

“Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” airs every Friday night at midnight KST.
