Ryu Jun Yeol and TWICE Voted as 2016’s Top Rising Stars
Actor Ryu Jun Yeol and girl group TWICE have been voted as this year’s “Top Rising Stars”!
Sports Donga recently conducted a survey to find out who netizens believe are the rising stars in their field, with nominees separated into two categories: drama and film, and music. Each category featured ten nominees, and the survey was held for a week between December 25 and 31 on the news outlet’s website.
Ryu Jun Yeol, who has recently become popular due to his starring role in the tvN drama “Reply 1988,” took first place in the drama and film category with a whopping 10,138 votes out of 13,974 in total. Yoon Kyun Sang of “Six Flying Dragons” came in second place, followed by Lee Dong Hwi, Park So Dam, and Shin Hye Sun.
In the music category, the new nine-member girl group TWICE grabbed 149 votes out of 334. The group debuted in October of 2015 with their mini album “The Story Begins” and hit single “Like OOH-AHH.” DIA, GFRIEND, SEVENTEEN, and MONSTA X took the remaining places in the top five.
