iKON Aims for Rookie Award With Confirmed Appearance at Seoul Music Awards
YG Entertainment’s monster rookies, iKON, have been confirmed to be appearing at the 25th Annual Seoul Music Awards later this month. The ceremony awards those who released albums during the year, based on votes, sales, and judges’ scores.
As one of the nominees for the New Artist Award, iKON made their debut in September with “My Type.” Quickly sweeping the music charts and winning No. 1 on a music program, the group sold out their debut concert in October and released their full-length album in December with the double title tracks “Dumb & Dumber” and “What’s Wrong?”
The group has already received the rookie awards at the 2015 Melon Music Awards and the 2015 MAMA. They are also strong candidates for the same award at the upcoming Seoul Music Awards, the Golden Disc Awards, and the Gaon K-Pop Awards.
The Seoul Music Awards will take place at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena on January 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. KST.
