Yoo Hee Yeol Cheers on TWICE Amid Controversy
Yoo Hee Yeol has encouraged TWICE to hang in there during the rough time they’re going through!
The group recently filmed an episode of his show, “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” on January 19. It’s said that the members show off their vibrant and bright energy during their performances.
While sitting down with TWICE for an interview, Yoo Hee Yeol is reported to say, “It’s really charming that you are so lively and bright. I was worried because you’re going through a difficult time at the moment, but it’s great that you haven’t lost your smiles.”
Yoo Hee Yeol continues, “I know it’s hard, but I hope that you overcome this.” He then asks the audience to encourage them with a round of applause, and it’s reported that a close-up shot shows member Tzuyu nodding her head in appreciation.
Tzuyu has recently been wrapped up in controversy for waving a Taiwanese flag on the MBC show “My Little Television.” After being accused of being a supporter of Taiwanese independence, Tzuyu apologized to China and TWICE halted its activities in the country. Meanwhile, TWICE’s label mates 2PM also canceled activities in China, and JYP’s stock has dropped. This has all occurred at the same time as elections in Taiwan, which has further intensified the controversy.
TWICE’s episode of “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” will air on KBS on January 22.
