Lee Byung Hun Is First Korean Actor to Be Invited to Oscars
On January 23, Lee Byung Hun’s agency BH Entertainment announced that actor Lee Byung Hun got invited to attend the 88th Academy Awards as the first Korean actor ever.
The agency commented, “He’s not one of the nominees, but getting invited in itself is an honor.
In what capacity Lee Byung Hun’s invitation to the ceremony will play out still remains to be seen.
Lee Byung Hun has been actively working in Hollywood appearing in films “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” portraying Storm Shadow.
Also in attendance is the world-renowned soprano Jo Sumi. She performed the song “Simple Song #3” for the soundtrack of the 2015 film “Youth.” The song has been nominated for Best Original Song.
The 88th Academy Awards will be held on February 28 in Los Angeles.
