G-Dragon Labeled "Star Attraction" of Chanel's Couture Show by New York Times
Chanel’s runway shows always attract the top celebrities, and the 2016 couture show was no different. Held at the Grand Palais in Paris, this year’s stage included models Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Soo Joo Park, while Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Diane Kruger watched from the front row. However, no one turned more heads than G-Dragon, who strolled out nonchalantly to claim his seat, bedecked in a Chanel couture suit and oversized black fur hat. (G-Dragon, of course, has a longstanding relationship with Chanel, and can often be found in the front row of their shows during Fashion Week.)
The New York Times, explaining how G-Dragon’s “chameleon style, kaleidoscopic hair shades, and catchy songs” have made him an internationally acclaimed superstar, labeled him as the “star attraction” of Chanel’s couture show. They also conducted a short interview with him after the show ended.
G-Dragon expressed interest in designing clothes only if he could deliver something new to the table… but also showed a sharp understanding of potential opportunities. “I would only create clothes myself if I felt I could do something really different — create a new style subculture for my generation and that is very ambitious. What is more interesting to me is how all my worlds appear to be colliding at the moment — music, film, fashion and art — you can be one man, but be a force that combines all of those sectors together. There are business opportunities to be found within that.”
And what else does G-Dragon plan to do in Paris? Visit art galleries! “I now know that inspirations must come from everywhere. The sights you can find here in Paris are second to none.”
