WINNER’s Song Mino Talks About Shedding the YG Label
WINNER’s rapper Song Mino recently opened up about his ambitions for the future and talked about his strong independent streak.
In an interview on February 1, he was asked about the lyrics he wrote while on “Show Me the Money 4” that said he would “shed the YG label.”
“I wrote that line to express my ambition and determination,” he said. “But it’s not about quitting my contract. It was about the thought that I should try things on my own strength instead of my agency’s.”
WINNER released their mini-album “EXIT:E” at midnight on February 1. The title tracks “Baby Baby” and “Sentimental” quickly swept the Korean music charts shortly after its release. The group has received praise for producing much of their own music, with Nam Tae Hyun, Song Mino, and Lee Seung Hoon responsible for their double title tracks. Their music videos are also receiving attention for their cinematic quality and the members’ acting skills.
