Who Were the Winners at the Second Half of "2016 Idol Star Athletics Championships"?

Spoiler alert for those who haven’t watched the “2016 Idol Star Athletics Championships.” 

On February 10, MBC aired the final episode for their Lunar New Year holiday special of the “2016 Idol Star Athletics Championships.” It was a festive occasion that showed the countless fans who filled the stadium coming together for a warm conclusion.

This season’s “Idol Star Athletics Championships” was different than the others. It featured not just the idols but it actively involved the fans as well, showing a great cooperation between the two. Representatives of the fan groups entered together with the players and even read the oath together at the opening ceremony. Furthermore, at the opening performances, the singers even entered together holding hands with their fans, showing a warm atmosphere before the games even began.

Once the games started, it was a fierce competition. For the female wrestling, EXID showed off their great strength and won the gold medal, plus the title of “female warriors.” They fought off an impressive bout from TWICE and took the victory.

EXID was also victorious in archery and was able to get the win against Red Velvet, who came scarily close to defeating them.

For the men’s 60 meter dash, there was an upset. Although BTS member Jungkook was an early favorite during the preliminaries, Snuper’s Woo Sung took the victory in his very first “Idol Star Athletics Championships.” It was a very close call that needed a video replay to get the final decision. However, in the championship race, Woo Sung lost to BTOB’s Minhyuk, who took the first place.

The men’s futsal match was another highly anticipated game, between the two teams led by BEAST’s Yoon Doo Joon and VIXX’s Leo. Futsal is a modified form of indoor soccer that is popular in Korea. The game was a flurry of goals for each team with the ultimate victory going to FC Cheongdam.

In the women’s 400 meter relay, A Pink continued their streak from last year and took the gold medal. The second place went to EXID, third to Girlfriend. The winner of the men’s relay was BTS, the second place going to B.A.P. and the third to VIXX.

The overall winner of the championship game went to the “Veterans” team, comprised of BTOB, A Pink, 4Minute, BEAST, and CLC.
