GFRIEND Gains Record Number of Fan Club Members in Short Time

Rookie girl group GFRIEND has hit another milestone, and also broken a record!

GFRIEND opened their official fan club in September of 2014, and they already reached 30,000 members by February 11 of this year. This period of only one year and five months is the shortest time it’s taken for a girl group to achieve this milestone.

The six-member group debuted in January of 2015 with their mini album “Season of Glass” and title track “Glass Bead,” and went on to gain further popularity after the release of their second mini album “Flower Bud” and its title track “Me Gustas Tu.” In September of 2015, they became a household name due to a viral video of the members continuing to perform at an event despite the fact that they kept slipping and falling on the wet stage.

GFRIEND then made a comeback in January of 2016 with their third mini album “Snowflake.” Their hit title track “Rough” off this mini album has so far grabbed seven wins on music shows.

The number of their fan club members has also soared during this time. In the 16 days after the release of “Rough,” they gained 10,000 more members. It was during this time that they also announced the name of their fan club, which is “Buddy.”

“Rough” has also remained in the first place spot on the Korean music site Melon for the past twelve days straight, starting on the afternoon of February 4.

Congrats to GFRIEND on their huge success!
