“Descendants of the Sun” Promises Friendship Won’t Lose to Love in New Still Cuts
Actresses Song Hye Kyo and Kim Ji Won play army doctors and they can be seen in the photos looking cool and professional in their blue scrubs. A representative from the drama promised, “The women will show a friendship and chemistry that will not lose to Song Joong Ki and Jin Goo’s bromance. As doctors they will tell human stories about saving lives, so please anticipate it.”
However, there is a past between the two women that they try to hide, an incident that took place while both of them were interns. They had thought they wouldn’t meet again but reunited in the (fictional) disaster-torn country of Uruk. Song Hye Kyo is in charge of the medical corps, though she has joined Doctors Without Borders against her will, while Kim Ji Won is an army surgeon volunteering in the troops.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki and Jin Goo get upfront and dirty in their new still cut, dressed in army fatigues. The two characters are very different: Song Joong Ki is bright and playful while Jin Goo is the strong and silent type, whose actions speak louder than words. Nonetheless, the two of them bond as fellow soldiers pledged to protect their families and countries.
“The bromance will be as strong as any romance in the drama,” the representative said. “When two people share food, shelter, and danger every day, a strong bond develops between them that is unlike anything else.”
A human melodrama of army troops and army doctors in the strange country of Uruk about love and people, “Descendants of the Sun” is set to air its first episode on February 24 at 10 p.m. KST. The drama will also be coming exclusively to Viki on February 24.
