9 Covers by Lee Hi You Need to Hear

As all the Hi Heels out there cling on to the edge of their seats anticipating Lee Hi‘s awaited comeback, we’ve compiled a list of some of her greatest covers. For someone who was discovered through a survival program, it is no surprise she has so many covers of famous songs (and a good amount in English)!

1. “Bust Your Windows” – Jazmine Sullivan

First on the list is the audition that put Lee Hi on the map. The judges were shocked, and viewers too, of the powerful voice that came out of such a young and small teenager. Her facial expressions and body language speak to the song and compliment her audition in a way that make her seem like a natural on stage.

2. “Love the Way You Lie” – Eminem ft. Rihanna

Returning as a guest collaborator on season 2 of “K-Pop Star,” this rendition of “Love the Way You Lie” in collaboration with 2000 Won was beautifully interpreted and actually resulted them in placing first place that round! The reactions of the other contestants and guest collaborators prove just how touching this performance is.

3. “Lies” and “Lonely” – BIGBANG & 2NE1

A playful medley of two famous hits by BIGBANG and 2NE1 by Lee Hi and Akdong Musician that mesmerizes the hosts of “Healing Camp.” The three of them piece together perfect harmony and play off the others’ strengths so well. It’s hard to believe they are all under 20 years old!

4. “Killing Me Softly” – The Fugees

To say Lee Hi‘s voice was made for this song would be an understatement. Her smooth and melodious singing always captures listeners’ hearts (I mean, just watch JYP‘s excitement escalate!) Lee Hi definitely does this legendary song justice with her performance.

5. “Let It Go” – Edina Menzel (“Frozen”)

Every part of this cover is unique and special in its own way. Although the song is covered often, Lee Hi, B.I, Donghyuk, and Hong Seok really embed that hip hop feel YG Entertainment is known for and make this song a fun and exciting performance. Not to mention, watch how much fun she’s having with the boys.

6. “As Time Goes By” – Yoon Mirae

With a voice just as powerful as the talented Yoon Mirae, Lee Hi‘s performance of “As Time Goes By” is definitely one for the books. Not only did she sing, she even rapped for the first time. Of course, we must attribute some of this to her being coached by the one and only T.O.P.

7. “Officially Missing You” – Tamia

Another performance with YG‘s maknae line consisting of Lee Hi, Akdong Musician, and Bang Ye Dam. This cover of “Officially Missing You” stands out because of the harmony between the three very different acts, the original rap by the men, and a twist on lyrics to describe the journey to achieving your dreams, which these survival program participants definitely have experience with.

8. “Rolling in the Deep” – Adele

Something that Lee Hi never fails to do is to convey her strength into her singing; she is often praised for how long she can hold her notes. Adele‘s “Rolling In the Deep” is perfect for showing off these talents of hers.

9. “Mercy” – Duffy

Lastly, we have her cover of “Mercy” by Duffy that shows us a playful side of her and quite a contrast from the deep, husky voice which contrasts with most of the covers listed above. Lee Hi‘s talent truly lies in her ability to adapt to any style and add her own unique twist to whatever she’s performing.
