How Much Has Busker Busker Earned in Royalties for "Cherry Blossom Ending"?

Busker Busker have shared the staggering amount that they have earned for their song “Cherry Blossom Ending.”

The song, which was recently revealed in a survey by Mnet to be the most downloaded and streamed song in K-POP over the past nine years, was the focus of SBS’ “One Night of Entertainment TV” on March 9.

Pop columnist Kim Tae Hoon said, “Just like how you want to listen to carols during Christmas time, when it comes to spring, you listen to “Cherry Blossom Ending. It’s made Jang Bum Joon, who wrote the song, 4.6 billion won (or approximately $3,827,600).”

He continued, “Actually, when Jang Bum Joon wrote the song, when it came to spring and the blossoms were blooming, he looked around and say all the couples walking around and thought to himself, ‘What about the people who are alone like me? I wish the blossoms would go away’ and wrote this song. But ironically, whenever the blossoms bloom, we listen to this song, like it is the spring anthem.”

The song always rises each year in the charts during this time, in early March. According to the charts on March 9, the song was 28th on Melon, 36th on Mnet, and 15th on Bugs.
