“Descendants of the Sun” Surpasses 1.1 Billion Views in China

KBS2’s hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” has reached over 1.1 billion views in China!

Each of the first eight episodes of the show have averaged around 100 million views on China’s major online video platform iQiyi. By last weekend, the show had reached 1 billion views in total, and by the morning of March 23, the number reached 1.1 billion. By that point, the preview for that day’s ninth episode had been watched over 22.5 million times!

Previously, the show’s first episode reached 30 million views in China by the day after it was uploaded on to iQiyi.

Meanwhile, the show’s lead actor Song Joong Ki became the No. 1 most searched celebrity in China earlier this month.
