Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2016 - March Week 4
Two new songs from Lee Hi dominate the chart this week. Her “Breathe” becomes our new No. 1 song, moving up 10 spots from last week. This is one of the two title songs from Lee Hi’s mini-album “Seoulite,” her first release in three years. To many fans surprise and delight, “Breathe” is written by SHINEE’s Jonghyun. It is a slow tempo R&B ballad that showcases Lee Hi’s husky voice. This is Lee Hi’s second No. 1 song in her career. She hit No. 1 with her debut song “1,2,3,4” back in 2012. Congratulations to Lee Hi.
“Breathe” displaced the two week champion, Mamamoo’s “You’re The Best,” which is still a close second this week.
As mentioned above, Lee Hi also have this week’s other new song. Moving up 9 spots to No. 3 is her other title song “Hold My Hand.” Written by Ahn Shin Ae of the indie group The Barberettes, this song is more listener friendly than “Breathe.” It is about missing one’s lover. Lee Hi’s soulful voice is a perfect fit to this song.
