"Superstar K8" to Kick Off Auditions in May

Mnet‘s flagship survival show “Superstar K” will be returning to the screen — now for the eighth time.

According to industry insiders, the auditions will be kicked off at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on May 1. Other audition locations and cities, as well as the judges, have yet to be announced. “Superstar K8” is expected to premiere during the latter half of the year.

Last November, Kevin Oh was crowned the winner of season seven which suffered from sluggish viewership ratings and received negative feedback for its “devil’s editing.”

Despite the previous lackluster season, Mnet has decided to renew the show with the goal of regaining popularity.
