Battle of the Rookies: Which April 25 Comeback Are You Most Excited For?
With the sheer number of idol groups making their comebacks this spring, many groups are unavoidably dropping albums at the same time. Last month, four artists made their comebacks on the same day on March 28: BTOB, Oh My Girl, Block B (pre-release single), and Secret‘s Hyosung.
In April, another three teams are slated to make their comebacks on the same day on April 25! (Albums and singles are typically released online at midnight KST.) All three groups are relatively rookies in the idol industry but have built up a strong fanbase in the past year.
TWICE
JYPE‘s newest girl group TWICE debuted last November with the album “The Story Begins” after the nine members were chosen through the survival program “SIXTEEN.” Their skyrocketing popularity earned them the Best New Artist (Female) Award at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), and their title track “Like OOH-AAH” still remains on many music charts in Korea.
TWICE is slated to make their comeback with the mini-album “Page Two” and the title track “Cheer Up.” They appear to be continuing their energetic and bright concept from “Like OOH-AAH” with the teasers hinting at a fun cheerleading concept this time around.
Lovelyz
Two girl groups will be going head to head on April 25 as Lovelyz is also scheduled to make their comeback! Lovelyz debuted in 2014 under Woollim Entertainment with the album “Girls’ Invasion” and the title track “Candy Jelly Love.” Their upcoming mini-album is titled “A New Trilogy” and the spring atmosphere in the teaser suggests that Lovelyz will be continuing the “innocent” concept that they successfully channeled in 2015 with songs like “Ah-Choo.”
SEVENTEEN
Almost a full year into their debut, SEVENTEEN is not looking to lose to the girl groups on April 25 as they return with another self-produced, self-written, and self-choreographed album. After the success of mini-albums “17 Carat” and “Boys Be” in 2015, the thirteen-member boy group will be releasing a full-length album this time around titled “Love & Letter.”
Which comeback are you most excited for?
