Watch: Red Velvet’s Joy Shows Off Her Best "Miss Korea Pose"

Could we have seen Joy on stage not as a singer but as a beauty pageant finalist?

On the May 9 episode of the SBS variety show “Same Bed Different Dreams,” in which families come on to share about problems they have and receive advice and support from the cast members, Red Velvet’s Joy guested and shared about her childhood experiences.

In particular, one young high school student shares about how she was a finalist in a beauty pageant. Joy reveals, “When I was young, I was a bit pretty and so I heard from a lot of people that I should be Miss Korea when I grow up. I had thought that it was a job so I practiced different poses. I thought that Miss Korea had to be a bit haughty and proud and so I always glared,” as she shows off her pose with her hands on her hip and a fierce gaze at the camera.

After seeing her pose, Yoo Jae Suk laughs and says, “You look very ferocious,” as Seo Jang Hoon adds, “Isn’t that the look of a scary mother-in-law?”

Nonetheless, Joy is nonplussed as she says, “I really got a lot of allowance money whenever I posed like this.”
