Song Joong Ki Reveals Why He's Comfortable Speaking In Chinese
Actor Song Joong Ki holds a press conference in Beijing before he kicks off his Chinese fan meeting tour.
On the May 13 press conference, he faces various local media outlets and demonstrates his Chinese language skills.
Chinese media report that due to the actor’s soaring popularity after “Descendants of the Sun,” he is received with similar warmth as actor Kim Soo Hyun after “My Love From The Star.”
Song Joong Ki greets the media representatives in Chinese, saying, “Hello everyone. I am Song Joong Ki. I’m happy to meet all of you here.” He noticeably speaks without difficulty, so he explains, “My older brother studied in Beijing for eight years. Through his influence, I studied Chinese as well.”
During the press conference, the actor reveals some of his plans for the fan meetings, including singing “Always” from the OST of “Descendants of the Sun” and re-enacting scenes from the drama for the enjoyment of his fans.
The tickets to the Beijing fan meeting were sold out during pre-sale, with the ticket price later reaching 20,000 yuan (approximately $3000), proving the power of Song Joong Ki’s fame.
The actor’s Chinese fan meeting tour begins on May 14 in Beijing before he proceeds to Wuhan on May 21, Guangzhou on May 27, Shenzhen on May 28, Shanghai on June 5, Hong Kong on June 11, Chengdu on June 17, and Taipei, Taiwan on June 25.
