Jessica's Reps And SBS Respond To Sudden Cancellation Of Radio Show Appearance
Although singer Jessica had been slated to appear on SBS PowerFM’s radio show “Lee Guk Joo’s Youngstreet,” it was recently suddenly announced that her appearance had been cancelled. Although SBS has stated that both parties mutually decided on the cancellation, Jessica’s representatives are saying that it came totally out of the blue.
Jessica’s reps have said, “[Her appearance] was decided upon last Wednesday, and then her scheduled appearance was cancelled on the weekend. We haven’t heard the exact reason for the cancellation. She is very disappointed because she had been preparing to perform live.”
On May 23, SBS responded to Jessica’s representatives claims that the cancellation had been decided on only by SBS by saying, “It’s simply a misunderstanding. Both sides agreed to the cancellation of her appearance.”
According to SBS, the radio show had first secured Jo Moon Geun Band as a guest on the show for the episode, and then invited Jessica. They say that Jessica’s reps requested that she be the lone guest on an episode rather than appear alongside other artists. SBS states, “After some internal discussion, we decided to invite her to appear on her own next time instead, and asked Jessica’s representatives for their understanding.”
However, Jessica’s representatives are telling a very different story. They have told news outlet OSEN, “When she was first cast for the show, the producers asked us about whether or not she wanted to appear alone on the show. We told them that appearing with another artist would be good too, and then it was decided that she would be appearing alongside Jo Moon Geun Band.”
Jessica had then prepared two songs to perform live on “Lee Guk Joo’s Youngstreet” before they found out that her appearance had been cancelled. Her representatives say, “Fans had prepared lunch boxes and stories for her, but then received this news without any clear reason, so they seem upset.”
Meanwhile, SBS has said that in addition to offering to arrange a solo appearance on “Lee Guk Joo’s Youngstreet” for Jessica later on, they have also arranged for her to appear on the radio show “Park So Hyun’s Love Game” as a solo guest.
However, Jessica’s reps say, “Her appearance on ‘Park So Hyun’s Love Game’ had already been decided upon. It was a completely unrelated arrangement to her scheduled appearance on ‘Lee Guk Joo’s Youngstreet.’”
SBS has now acknowledged that her appearance on “Park So Hyun’s Love Game” was already planned before her scheduled appearance on “Lee Guk Joo’s Youngstreet.” They add that she will be recording “Park So Hyun’s Love Game” on May 24, and it will be broadcast on May 28.
What do you think of this sudden cancellation of Jessica’s radio show appearance?
