Lee Seung Gi’s Reps Request Police Investigation Of Source Behind Rumor Of Secret Child

Representatives of actor and singer Lee Seung Gi, who is currently serving in the army, have stated their intention to uncover the source of a malicious rumor about the star.

A rumor recently spread online that Lee Seung Gi had fathered a child with a make-up artist who is older than him, and that the two were secretly raising the child together, with Lee Seung Gi even visiting her on several occasions after enlisting in the army.

On June 21, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi’s agency has filed a request to open an investigation with the police’s cyber investigation unit to find the person who started this rumor.

Part of the rumor that was spread online included the claim that local media outlet Dispatch was currently collecting information about the story, as though they were about to break the news. However, Dispatch has posted on their website to state that the story is “100 percent fabricated.”

“[The rumor] even went so far as to suggest that we are covering the story,” Dispatch writes. “We assure you that this is completely false. We don’t even currently have the workers to cover such a rumor.” They add, “We have confirmed that there is no such person on his make-up team.”

A photograph of a woman was also spread online as part of the rumor, which claimed that she is the mother of Lee Seung Gi’s alleged secret child. A friend of this woman has come forward to tell TV Report on June 21 that her friend was shocked to see her photo being circulated online as though she was the “secret girlfriend” of Lee Seung Gi.

“My friend is just an ordinary mother,” the friend explains. “She recently gave birth and is taking care of her baby now, but she was shocked to see a photo in a tabloid of herself from her social media account from before she was married.” The friend says that the woman has filed a report with the police regarding the source of the rumor.

Lee Seung Gi enlisted in the army for his mandatory military service on February 1 of this year, and is expected to be discharged from the army on October 31, 2017.
